  • 25 US dollars
  • G.A.R. Cemetery Park, Seattle

Service Description

This special extended tour will tell the story of the Battle of Gettysburg through the personal histories of the dozens of Seattle Civil War veterans who fought in the pivotal battle. Take a journey back to 1863 through two of Seattle's historic cemeteries. Learn about the fight in McPherson's woods or Oak Ridge on the first day through the eyes of Seattle's veterans. Defend Culp's Hill or charge into the Wheatfield with Seattle veterans. Make the fateful journey across the open plain of Pickett's Charge with Seattle Confederates. Stand with Seattle men at the stone wall and defend the high-water mark of the Confederacy. The walking tour will last approximately two hours and visit both Seattle's Grand Army of the Republic cemetery and neighboring historic Lake View cemetery. The total walking distance will be approximately 1.5 miles, with some slight inclines and/or uneven ground. It is possible to travel some of the distance by car of you wish, for less walking between points.
